Oh holy god - I'm from Seattle, in SoCal for college right now, and as much as I love my school.... I cannot WAIT to get back home!
LA is yup, smoggy, hot, and in my opinon very un-beautiful. Lots of barren land and housing developments in plain view - no trees! The freeways are beautiful in Washington. Seriously...
Also, Washington culture is friendly and down-to-earth. People don't care very much about what they look like; dress code is mostly trail clothes for kids and casual adults - what you wear hiking isn't really any different from your usual wardrobe. It's so strange down here in LA - all these women look dressy, so much effort into how they look! Probably just because I'm an outsider, but it seems very strange and shallow to me; I miss home.
Seattle is just so all-out beautiful. Everything is green, with lots of fog and frost in the fall, and unbeatable perfect summers. Okay, it does rain for most of the other nine months, but I think that's beautiful too; maybe you'll get used to it too :)
If you're into hiking - Cascades, Mt. Rainier, the rainforest on the penninsula are fabulous! Also, there's windsurfing in the Gorge and boating in the Sound.
Nightlife in Seattle's pretty all right - the university district is fun, and the shows aren't like LA but they're okay. Plus, tons of casinos if you're into that.
Well, thanks for giving me a reason to think about home. I hope you move! Seattle >>>>>>> LA!

I have lived in both cities. The Seattle area is very nice and I miss it a lot. The people there are much more friendly than people in LA. The job market is much tighter than it is in LA and is does rain all winter long.
There is fairly good skiing near Seattle. The people are passionate about the local sports and universities (Go Cougs). The summers are fantastic! It's stays lighter longer in the summer than does LA. There are a ton of micro-breweries and local hangouts. There are a lot of outdoor related activities that you can do within an hour or so. There is a lot to do if you truly take advantage of it.
To be honest, it's more of a tradeoff between opportunity/job security, weather, lifestyle and conveniences.

sure, So Cal followers are regularly Laker followers and the Clippers don't get adequate followers as they deserve. i've got been asserting it for an twelve months now that Seattle desires yet another NBA group after the Sonics went to OKC. in the event that they went to Seattle then no question, they are would be greater Clipper followers. and California has like 4 or 5 communities already, one much less can no longer injury

Why don't you move to San Francisco? It has a beautiful Opera House, a great China Town, a lot of good Restaurants,
no Smog, not much Rain, close to the Wine Country.
The Climate is better than the Seattle climate.

Reasons to leave LA and move to Seattle:
1) all the rain will keep your skin moist
2) sunshine hurts your eyes and tans your skin
3) the overcrowded city and high prices will keep you from having to buy a wallet
4) it's a short drive to Canada for cheap prescription drugs
5) the cold weather will let you use those jackets you have been saving
6) the lack of jobs and housing will let you make more friends in the streets
7) the beach is overrated
Do you need more?

Like someone said..the summer it stays light out so late! I love that. If you hate rain definately don't move up here. Oh yeah...if you care, prosecutors treat possession of small amounts of marijuana as their lowest priority.
