It has been over a year and a half since the hurricanes hit. Why don't people have their own jobs and apartments by now? This is getting ridiculous.

I fully understand what they went through. I lived in Texas and helped them as they arrived fresh from the dome in New Orleans. They were still wet and many had had no food or water for days.

There's no excuse for able-bodied people not being employed by now. And yes the government HAS done "jack squat" for them. They've had hotels, trailers, food vouchers and CASH handed to them.

I agree with you! I know that sounds mean, but come on! How long are these people going to sponge off the government??? Yes, the government failed miserably with the aftermath of Katrina, but it's time for these people to step up and help themselves instead of waiting for the government to take care of them.

FEMA is an agency within the Department of Homeland Security and as a result of the organizational change to FEMA the paper work, processes, procedures, etc have not been revised or even monitored to ensure efficient operations.

Those who have yet to receive any FEMA assistance should take their own initiative and help themselves. But that is easier said than done sometimes. Most have no money, jobs and resources.

I think it is embarrassing that our country is unable or will not help those victims. Our government has no problem helping foreign countries and rescuing them when they cry HELP!!

The American people should scream in protest to this lack of assistance and caring by our own government, federal and state.

No they shouldn't be. I understand that alot of people lost everything but, that doesn't mean they get a free ride supported by Uncle Sam. Fema shouldn't have to but needs to start telling those people that just because they were in a hurricane is no reason not to work and pay for their expenses
themselves. How much money did the government lose when they resold those trailers? TOO MUCH!! This government was not put into action to support people that don't believe in the word work. That's one reason you see more Mexicans working than you do US citizens.

They've lost EVERYTHING. all of thiers life's work, thier house, family, stability, memories, photos, normality and sense of belonging. It takes time to get back to the regular basis of life, more than a year and a half. FEMA has done jack squat to hep those people out and the rebuilding is still occuring. 9/11 reconstruction and healing is still occuring today and it's been some six years now. Rome wasn't built in a day and the hurricane disaster areas will not be either.

It'll take time and suuport. Maybe even some help from governemnt officials, if that isin't too much to ask.

nicely it could be extra fee-effective interior the long-term than a team in a motel however the final fema ones have been poisonous. hi i understand various the people from New Orleans that stayed in a motel for over 2 years out in dallas, until ultimately the government stated adequate became adequate. in spite of this the way libs say all Conservatives stay in a trailer, if the mayor is a democrat could be fearful aobut dropping votes. basically a concept.

How heartless and ignorant you are. I suggest that you get off your butt and drive from NO to Biloxi Ms. and talk to the people that have received no assistance, have no jobs, and still pay a mortgage on a place that doesn't exist anymore. I was there and these people are frustrated with the millions and billions reportedly being spent. It is not very evident. These people had taxes stolen from them also and are getting very little back. Your story will change when it is you!!! Many would like to be employed, live in less crowded environment, and have their lives back.

The old and infirm should have help from FEMA, but the rest of the clowns out there with their hands out should get with it already. If you lost your house, the debt should be forgiven. Lenders take a risk when they finance. That's why they charge so much in interest. This is ridiculous, but nobody's laughing.

Well, considering that they haven't gotten nearly the Federal aid the area was promised, yeah. Considering that Hurricane Katrina was the greatest natural disaster of all-time, yeah.

Perhaps you would be a little more compassionate if you had a clue what it would be like to lose absolutely EVERYTHING. (That is something I cannot even comprehend).

How would you then feel about someone talking down to you the way you are to them???

Some Americana's need the government, from cradle to grave.
Absolutely dependent on the gov.
They would die in the streets, without the gov.
