My nipples have been hurting for a week and I dont know why. I am 22 years old, Im expecting to get my period two weeks from now and i am not on birth control. I have heard that when you get pregnant your breasts get sore but its not my whole breasts its just the nipple that is sore......any suggestions?

Usually, sore nipples either indicate near onset of menses, or pregnancy. The nipple is tender to touch and can become erect for long periods.

I suggest you do two things, One, go get an EPT test and see if your pregnant. Two weeks is kinda far in advance for nipples to be sore due to your period. If its negative, just wait and see if your period starts a little early. If positive, make an appointment to see your OB doctor.

Anytime you have doubts, call your doctor. Usually, doctors will let their nurse call and give you good information or, make the appointment to see you in the office.

I have actually heard of the nipples becoming sore and very sensative and tingley when your pregnant. So don't completely rule that possiblity out, or maybe there is just an increased amount of blood flow to your nipples. Check you breasts for a lot of blue veins that can also be a sign of pregnancy...

You very well could be pregnant!! (If you are sexually active that is) When I got pregnant (it was 2 weeks before my period, no birth control) my nipples hurt so badly that I would put my hand over them in the shower before going under the water! My nipples were so sensitive that I thought I was going to die!!! However, my nipples get somewhat sensitive now before my period too.
Hope this helps
Good luck
