Cesc Fabregas. He keeps Arsenal ticking over almost single handedly at the age of 19 and should be the first name on the teamsheet even before Henry.
Alonso is a very good player but I don't think he is the heartbeat of the Liverpool team (that'd be Mr Gerrard) in the same way Fabregas is.
I support Chelsea, so no bias involved...

They are two different players, so comparing them side-by-side is not quite appropiate, or fair. Xabi Alonso is a defensive midfielder, so he has qualities that tend to play-building, accuracy at long passes and shots, and of course, being the first line of defense. Cesc, on the other side, is a winger/offensive midfielder, so he's very good at starting counter-attacks, 1-on-1's with the keeper, speeding through the sides of the field, and short-length passes.
If you would ask for a personal favorite, I'd say Cesc, but Xabi is a pretty solid player.

I am a Liverpudlian and Alonso is my favorite player. I would take Alonso for the next few years, but Fabregas has the ability to be the best player in the world. He just needs a couple of more years.
Actually on second thought, I'll just take them both and run a 2-6-2 with four center mids in Gerrard, Alonso, Fabregas and Sissoko. :)

Alonso because he can score from almost anywhere and Cesc is not a great goal scorer but in saying that in a few years time, Fabregas will rule the footballing world.

i support Liverpool - and to no surprise to the arsenal supporters - Alonso is the better player.
He has so far proved that he has star quality-compared to fabregas' squad rotation

hi im a liverpool supporter and to be honest i'd say fabregas is the better player, alonso is good but i'd rather gerrard and sissoko in our midfield
