You need to check your local sound ordinances. Cities are allowed to set thier own laws on this matter so what may be legal in one is not in the other. Also in most areas after about 10pm the noise laws are tighter.

Depends where you live , I have a full size 89 Bronco V-8 , with headers, and straight pipes ( no muffler or catalytic converter) that sum beech is really really loud... Most of the time it stays on the back 2 acres where the mud is , but I drive it at least two days a week in ,and out of town , I have had it for 7 years no questions asked ...it is probably illegal in most places but I have never been asked about it ..

Of course it's illegal! The vehicle must have some sort of muffler in place. here in Texas the vehicle must not exceed 103 decibels at fifty feet or you will get a ticket. (Sheeesh! Where do these people come from?)

yes, your car can only be at a certain decibel level. that goes for exhaust and sound system. most of the time cops don't care, but there is that one.
