In China almost 40,000 cats and dogs are slaughtered yearly to make collectable fur figurines. And these fur figurines are being imported and sold here!!

Yes, it's sad but true.

However, many other countries do not live on the same social standards as we do. And unfortunately, even our own businesses are unethical to the point of supporting this fact.

Certain locations in China have also been reported to practice cannibalism (eating humans).

One part that you left out in this is that they skin these dogs and cats and then EAT them. The fur is then used for other things such as fashioning collectibles.

Its horrendous - yes.
But its a whole other world over there.

The fact that people in China do this is neither right or wrong. You should not place you standards on other cultures. You do not have to buy the figurines. It is OK to alert other people in your culture that this is occurring in hopes you can influence their spending.

My 80 year old mother has one, it looks just like a sleeping cat. She likes cats, but the building where she lives does not allow pets. I am not about to tell her how it was made.
