Good for you wanting to give a child a good home. When you get into adoption most agencies can afford to be picky about who they take on. Most birth mothers can too. There are enough couples around that are more than willing to adopt a child. Many people go with agencies, we went with angel adoptions out of Chicago IL. We are also foster parents and have friends in the foster care system that are single women who are foster parents. There is a lot of red tape involved with being a foster parent but it doesn't discriminate against single people. Many kids in the foster care system come up for adoption all the time. On that note I would say the short answer is that married couples are easier to sell to the birth mothers as opposed to single potential parents who are better off. Good luck and I hope this helps.

most state agencies disqualify you,due to your singleness because in this country, women are not looked at as stable heads of households, also the race of child that you may want to adopt is very inportant, it is still deemed good for children top be raised by two parents...whether gay or straight* if gay you both must have good incomes and perferbly adopt a child that is the same sex.

Most adoption agencies think a child is better off in a two parent home(man and woman) and that single people or unmarried people can't provide well for a child as a married couple can.

Most adoption now days are more open and the pregnant women is allowed to choose who gets her child. Anyone in a one parent household is instantly at a disadvantage because people believe that two parents are better than one.

The truth is, most adoption centers want children to go home to two parents. A man and a woman.
It is important for a child to have a male and female adult in their life as they grow up. If a single man went to adopt a child, they would not approve of it.

Because most adoption agencies are seeking two-parent homes in which to place infants. Are you just figuring this out now?

Because you're a 33 year old single straight woman; if you can't be married by now, how do you expect them to trust you with the life of another person with your own in such shoddy shape?

A child needs both a mother AND a father. Fathers are very important.
That's why I'm against singles and gay couples adopting.
