I was induced 3 times and never had any problems. (1st time was because my water had broken and I wasn't in labor, 2nd because I had high blood pressure, 3rd because I had walked around dilated 3 for 3 weeks.) I never had to have a c-section or any bad effects. Good luck sweetie!

I am one of those people who is against inducing labor for no reason. If the baby is truly large and you have a small frame it can be a problem, babies grow every day so if you are full term and the dr wants to induce you to keep the baby from getting larger don't be nervous. There is a higher risk of c-section with larger babies, but the medical staff is aware of what to look for and if you or your baby is in any danger they will go ahead with the c-section. Relax and don't worry, if you didn't trust your Dr, you would've gone somewhere else. You may go into labor on your own before Sunday anyway. Don't spend the last week before you deliver stressing yourself. Women have been giving birth since the beginnings of civilization, you'll get though it.

Well if your doctor wants to induce you then there is probably a good reason for it. Baby might not be fitting anymore and there might not be much amniotic fluid left. There is a higher chance of C-section with an induction but it also is possible that you will go throught the entire process just fine. I was kind of induced. My water broke early in the morning all by itself but I wasn't having contractions and well they had to give me drugs to start my contractions which is what they will do to you. PITOCIN. I had a normal vaginal delivery and had a baby girl by the end of the night. Maybe you'll go into labor naturall by then. Try having sex or nipple stimulation. It works for some women.

I definitely am not going to say you should or shouldn't, because I have no medical training. But, I can tell you about my childbirths.
During my first pregnancy, my blood pressure almost caused me toxemia, and for whatever reason, I would not dialate. After being at my due date and being on bedrest for 6 weeks, I agreed to be induced. (I think I was only like 1 - 3 centimeters, sorry, it's been a long time). Anyway, they gave me IV meds to start my labor at 7:30 a.m. Around 3 p.m., he popped my waterbag. Of course, active labor began, and at 3:10 am the next morning, I had a bouncing baby boy.
Second time around, I was carrying twins. I went into labor at 35 weeks, and again, they had to pop the bag (or bags - sorry, been a while since 85). This time I had to have a c-section because twin "b" was transverse lie. The good thing about having the c-section was it was quick, scary, but quick. We had 2 bouncing baby boys about 1 hour after induction.

I let them talk me into it and regretted it. ( I had a cervix softening drug that caused me to have super hard contractions) I refused drugs and was in agony.
When were you due? Is there a possibility of your due date being wrong?
Those are the first questions I would ask your doctor. How is your blood pressure? have you had any complications? If you are having an easy pregnancy, maybe you could talk the doctor into waiting a couple more days.
Then If you do induce, make sure they know you want just a tiny tiny bit of pitocin and shut it off if you start to go into labor to see if your body takes over on its own.

I was induced with my first child.... normal vaginal delivery. I had to be induced due to no more room for the baby and little amniomic fluid left. I had a c-section with my second child. Personal opinion... the c-section was easier on me and easier to recover from. Don't let the c-section part freak you out. If your not comfortable with it, put your foot down and wait it out. It's your call. Just remember everyone has a horror story for something!

The hospital here wont induce till 10 days after your due date. I would suggest perhaps waiting another week. The reason they have complications is because you are making the baby come out when hes not ready, and the more interference, the more problems can arise. So yeah, wait another week adn see what happens, he may be on his way soon

I have never hear of any stories about being induced. My mom was induced for 4 children, i would think that you would be fine, especially if your family memeber have been induced and never had a problem. i wouldn't worry about it and would go. Make sure you let your dr. know how worried about it you are, let her/him ease your mind, and then wait for you baby to come! And then when everything starts to get going you really won't be thinking about what might happen but what is happening. and i'm sure your baby will be fine. your dr. wouldn't have you do something that might hurt you or your baby! good luck and Congrads! i hope this helps

I was 1 week late with my first and it was never an option of an induction, because I made it very clear to my doctor that unless there was an absolute medical emergency please do not bring it up. You do not know how your body will react to anything at this point, why not let it do what it is naturally suppose to do? Give yourself a little bit more time before you let them start telling you what you can't do. Believe in your body, and give it a chance to work on its own. Good luck with what ever your decision may be!

I was in the same situation. I was 2 weeks past my due date so they wanted to induce. I went with it and everything turned out fine. it was nice nowing when it was going to happen instead of it happening in a place or time that wasnt good. Good luck im sure it will turn out just fine.
