Pearl Harbor of course. Someone bombing you with no warning and when you are not at war with each other is a VERY good reason to go to war. and we really made the Japaneses pay too

well we were exspected by the british to help, and we were already giving supplies to all countries that were invaded. we were also already sending troops, and had a peace time draft. roosevelt would have already gone to war but the american people didn't want war. Pearl harbor was the spark our country needed for us to justify going to war. It wasn't the cause so much as our justification.
