My last period started on the 10th Feb and I am normally on a 28/29 day cycle. This means my period was due on the 9th or 10th March and hence am a few days late.

I have had a nasty cold for the past week which could also impact my cycle but when I am ill it normally makes my period earlier not later.

I have had sex during the last month and though it was with protection (condoms) I know that is not 100% safe.

I did a pregnancy test today and it was negative but I have been pregnant before and the first test was negative that time... even the first one the Dr did came back negative but 2 weeks later I did another one and it was positive.

My body has acted a like it was preparing for and then had a period over the last 10 days. I got the bad skin, tender breasts, back pain etc but I still have not come on.

Despite the tests could I still be pregnant? What other things could it be? Any advice on what I should do next?

Sorry it's long and thanks for your help! :-)

Delay/Difference in Menstruation:
A delayed or missed menstruation is the most common pregnancy symptom leading a woman to test for pregnancy. When you become pregnant, your next period should be missed. Many women can bleed while they are pregnant, but typically the bleeding will be shorter or lighter than a normal period. This symptom is commonly explained by other reasons. If you have been sexually active and have missed a period, it is recommended that you take a test: Find a Free Testing Center or Order my pregnancy test

Other Explanations: Excessive weight gain/loss, fatigue, hormonal problems, tension, stress, ceasing to take the birth control pill, or breast-feeding

yes you can be pregnant. same thing happened to me. i tested a week after i missed my period and it came back neg. another week went by and it came back pos. so it actually really depends on the test that you buy...highly recommend first response it can test 5 days before your missed period.
you could have messed up your cycle by being sick. just because it affected you in a certain way before doesn't mean it will be the same next time. if you lost or gained weight that could do it as well. STRESS that really screws up the cycle. just track what differences have happened and maybe you can pin-point where you may have messed it up and figure it out from there. good luck.

You could still be pregnant, those tests aren't completely foolproof.

However, it's just as likely that you're stressing over not having started could be causing you to be later and later. Try to relax. Give it a few days. If you don't start in another 3-5 days, take another test.

If you keep that pattern up, eventually you'll either have a period or a baby.

It could just be stressing over where your period is, and desperately hoping that you are or aren't pregnant.

Other factors could be weightloss or gain, both of which can stop or affect your periods as can stress and health issues such as thyroid problems. There is also the risk that you have conceived but that the pregnancy has not progressed, I sincerely hope this isn't the case for you. But the best you can do is to go see your GP who can give you a blood test to check.

Hope all goes well for you.

wait one week and it your period still hasn't come take another test. use a test that says it provides "early results," such as First Response Early Result.

or call the doctor and ask them to do an hcg blood test. these can pick up pregnancy earlier than a urine test.

good luck

You could be pregnant, or you could just be late!
Give it another few days (if you can wait) and take another test, if it comes back negative I would phone your GP and ask for a blood test which should be more accurate.
Good luck.

Stress can cause a missed period and, honestly, it sounds like you are kind of stressing over this.

I would say..........stop thinking about it, don't worry about it.
Mark on your calendar to check on this in one week.
Get another test (First response or EPT - they are the best,
expensive, but its worth it).......if you still have not had your period........I would go to the doctor.

Good luck
