Lakers coach Phil Jackson has stated that he feels the league is out to get his star player, Kobe Bryant. After a third incident, involving Bryant's elbow, and an opponents face (this time Kyle Korver), the league has issued a flagrant foul 1 penalty.
I think it's great that the league is stepping up, and punishing repeat offenders. It shouldn't matter if the player is a bench warmer, or a superstar. I can't see how Jackson can complain. But then again, he has a history of making ridiculous comments, which have resulted in stiff fines from the league office.
My props to the NBA for being consistent in enforcing their own rules, and not allowing a star player like Bryant to get away with his dirty play.
Your thoughts?

Fist off all, how many bench wormers do you hear getting suspended for something like this. Most fans don't even care if they are on the court, the league just picks out the stars to set an example, Kobe now, it use to be A I, and before that another star. When was the last time Mike Spellman or who ever got an article in the Times about a couple of cheap shots??? Never, and it aint’ gonna happen!!!
Plus, Kobe gets hit every time down under the basket, and nobody looks at a tape and gives anyone else a flagrant foul!!! The Lakers lose games because of those none calls. Then when he gives it back a little, he has to miss a game and the Lakers lose another game. It’s crazy. The NBA should just fine him or anyone who dose this, and not penalize the team! Only in these little calls that even the refs don’t call. Obviously, when a ref gives a flagrant 1 or 2, then the NBA can step in. Lets go back to 80’s ball and be men, not just rely on the NBA to do what they think is P.C. Or at least make the missed game a home game so that the fans can enjoy that player for the only home game that year! That’s what sucks too. The NBA makes billions, yet Joe Shmow saves up all year to see Kobe play at New York, but he can’t even see him that game.
And I said it again and again to Kobe hatters, MJ, Malone, and a bunch of other players from the 80’s and early 90’s use to do the exact same thing to people. If they don’t get the respect when they shot the ball, why should anyone else get a call for something that’s not a foul, it’s a reaction to contact. Even if Kobe and all those gays where faking it (Du), it’s not for the NBA to make that call. What if Kobe dose get his hand slapped and he feels like he will fall and sprain his ankle, of course he will fling his arms out. It’s a natural reaction. The NBA should look at the whole game and make a judgment call of the Ref’s and their officiating. Thats my 2 cents!

I think he is so hyper competative, that when he gets blocked by one of those guys his emotional competativeness takes over and he becomes vengeful hitting the other player in the face. I think NBA is doing the right thing in this case. I thnk Kobe ought to stop crying and step his game up. He is an awesome player but a lot of that comes from his hyper competativeness. He needs to mature and stop hitting the other kids, if he was in kindergarden the teacher would put him in time out... the NBA shouldn't allow him to play if he continues this behaviour.

I think that if Kobe would just stop elbowing people that the NBA wouldn't be punishing him much. I mean Kobe is one of their marquee players they would never just keep looking for reasons to make him sit out game after game.

All, I know is that he can rape with the best of them.
If there were an all star team for rapists, he would be the leading vote getter.
