I never heard that but it sounds like a good idea. As long as it's not too close, and you keep the child warm other than that. But- you might want to check with your doctor.

There is nothing wrong with putting a fan on a 4 year old, except that the child will be even more cold and want to cover up more. You should definitely not bundle the child up or else that'll raise their temperature higher. You only want the temperature to be as high as his body is naturally making it, no higher. Putting the fan on could help break the fever, but it wouldn't be permamnent fixture, so really there is no point unless it makes you feel better. I personally put a fan on my toddler at a distance, but not on my infant.

Not a good idea! This can quickly dehydrate them. Better to use cool cloths, dress them in light clothes (as in weight, not colour), keep them calm and quiet. If an infant, nurse on demand (or bottle), if older, have him or her drink plenty of juice.

If the child is old enough (ie over three months, I think it was), then you may be able to use ibuprofen (advil or motrin) or tylenol to bring down a temperature.

If it's a 'low' temp, don't - the temperature may be the body fighting the sickness and may help. If it's a high temperature, then it's a good idea to bring it down.

(and oh-my-NO to the person who said to have the child bundle up and sweat it out. BAD advice)

no, it's not because if they are facing the fan it would mess up there breathing depending how far away it is from the child. It's okay if you put the fan on the child as long as it isn't too close.

No. You should just put on a onsie or a t-shirt. Don't bundle them up or anything. you can try a cool bath but I don't do that with my son because I had that done to me and I remember how terrible it was. Alternate tylenol and motrin every 4-6 hours.

An infant, no because it can confuse their breathing and they won't breathe in some cases. They also tend to swallow when the air is blowing and it gives them terrible gas.

Try giving him/her a cool bath, not cold, just cool, and letting him/her wear just a onesie and lay on the floor on a sheet, where it's cool.

Good luck and I hope the little one feels better soon!

No, it's good to have a fever, that means that your body is fighting the infection. As long as the fever is under 102 degrees you should just leave it alone.

When you have a fever you already feel cold even though your body is warm! thats how fevers work.. you get chills, and to break the fever you have to sweat!! bundle up with a blanket, but def no fan!
