I looked at 2 different states where I've lived and I've only reconized about... um... one actually. The rest just seem outragous. Are they old laws or what?

Most are just old laws that have never been removed from state codified law, so they are technically still enforceable and a law, but they aren't used any more.

An example is North Dakota's co-habitation law which prohibits non-related people of opposite sex to share a house, townhome, apartment, etc. This law has not been enforced for over eighty years but it is still on the official code, so it is still a law.

Every state has a weird law or two that harkens back to the times of the wild west or further back. At the time, I am sure that the law made sense and was very important for the times. So yes, though outrageous, they are actual laws. Most states have recinded the moldy-oldie ones.

I don't know those particular sites, but they probably refer to very old (100-200 year old) laws that happen to still be on the books.

Remember that laws vary by state, so just because a crazy law exists in one state (or one county or city) doesn't mean it's everywhere. And certainly doesn't mean it's actually enforced.

".com"s aren't nearly as credible as ".gov"s (and ".org"s are in the middle), but I think that many of them are probably true. There's a good chance that not all of them are though.
