It is either a faulty configuration, an interference with another wireless product such as a 2.4Ghz phone, or the ISP itself is having issues. If your connection icon is showing an connection then your hardware is working fine, it is the signal which is having problems. Sometimes a reboot of your modem and router will fix this issue, if it is not a matter of another hardware interferring such as a cordless 2.4Ghz phone.

Go to your modem and router and unplug both for thirty seconds. Plug them back in and wait for everything to reset. Go reboot your computer and see if you can now get back online. This is what your ISP would tell you if they were not experiancing problems.

Recently, nothing I did would get us back up on the net, and my connection was fine. I finally called my ISP and was told the entire state was out and it would take several hours for the ISP to reastablish connections for hundreds of thousands of customers. However, I have had much success every other time by rebooting modem and router by the method I explained above. Sometimes it just needs a reboot to get working properly again. Also, sometimes congested sites will throw a connection offline. This could be a photo uploading tool such as the Yahoo Album site which does this regularily during the day on my system.

Good luck and I hope a reboot will get you back online, have a geat day!

Possibly interference from cordless telephones. If you have 2.4 GHZ phones, this is a definite possibility. Hope this helps.
