Yes, that is exactly what happen to me I had an ultrasound done very early and only saw one tiny little heart beat and one baby and had heard only one heart beat on the doppler several times and come to find out at 16 weeks I went for another ultrasound and I am having identical twins.

I had only heard one heartbeat but then a ultrasound determined twins. You could still be having Twins. Good Luck!

Yes, it is possible. With twins, the heartbeats can be in sync, where it only sounds like one. An ultrasound would confirm for sure. Good luck!

Absolutely! During my 3rd pg, my doctor checked baby's heartbeat from 10wks on. Each time it was only one. We never suspected we were having twins! When I was almost 6 months pg, I had first u/s done. Boy was I shocked when we found out we were having not one, but two girls! One of the baby's was breech, so her heart was higher up. Sometimes even a u/s doesn't detect it if the smaller baby is hiding behind the other.

Yes its very possible.I use to baby set a set of twins that were a big surprise to Mom and Dad.The doctor said just 1 baby that would be BIG.When they were born doc was shocked also.Said its call hidden twin. One will lay the same way as other baby so they are hidden. And the heart beats can be the same also.Especially with identical twins.

Oh Yes! And even with an ultrasound the 2nd one may be hiding too. Sometimes it takes even longer to detect the twin. Best of luck.

Its possible. Do you have reason to suspect twins? Lemmie ease your mind of some common misconceptions: if your husband has twins in his family, it doesn't mean squat. Your family history is all that matters. If there are twins in your family and they are identical, your chances of having twins are the same as everyone else. If you have fraternal twins on YOUR SIDE of the family, then yes, your chances could be slightly higher. Best of luck.

Yes, one heartbeat could be masking the other. Even ultrasounds are not 100% accurate because the babies could be on top of eachother.
