Whereas J.J. Redick was a phenomenal player in college, the only thing he was really good at was shooting. When he entered the NBA, the defenses were much better and J.J. does not have the ball skills to compete with the NBA.

Duke does NOT produce great NBA players very often. JJ can shoot lights out but it doesn't matter when he has someone all up in his grill. He was great in college, like alot of others from Duke, but just will not be able to get strong enough for the NBA. Name the 10 top players to come out of Duke since Coach K took over then tell me how many really really made it in the NBA by living up to the hype. Elton Brand and Grant Hill became stars out of Duke but think about people like Lattener, Hurley, Johnny Dawkins, Battier. None of them made it but ALL of them were great AT DUKE. Thats why I question Coach K working with the NBA stars in the Olyimpics.

I wonder the same thing- he would be great as a designated free throw shooter.
Seriously though, he's a world-class shooter, but not athletic enough to create a shot against 99% of NBA players. And he plays below average defense, to be polite.

He could barely create his own shot in college...
NBA-ers are faster and stronger - not quick enough, not enough at the defensive end, and he cannot - and let me stress CANNOT create his own shot.
