I want women to be able to do what they want to, if they are happy being housewives that is great, it is an honorable vocation and quite necessary, too. If they want to express themselves with their own careers that is fine, too. Women are not appendages of men, they are independent human beings who join what is hopefully a happy relationship with a man they love, but they are not his property at all.

Wifes must go to work, clean the house, take care of the children, and then have sex with their husbands? lol I think not. If being a housewife is what you want then I think good for you but most woman are tired of being treated this way. Once you're a housewife, your guy has all the money and you must be dependent on him. Most young wifes dont work or study and if they ever choose to leave their husbands, they're left broke. Woman should be dependent and make money to hire a maid. Guys should stop being soo lazy and give their wifes more consideration and gratitude.

I am a women but I have an opinion about this...one that a lot of men don't realize. Most women who work outside the home have two jobs. 1)their outside job 2)their household duties. A lot of men do not help out around the house, when they get home from work they just plop on the couch and expect supper to be prepared for them, the washing to be done, the laundry to be done...etc. A housewife that DOES NOT work SHOULD take care of everything, cooking, cleaning, kids and everything and should not complain about it. But a women that works outside the house should be equal in task. I say all this based on what I have seen from friends and relatives. However, my boyfriend and I live together and have been for 5 months, we both work full time and he helps out. We take turns cooking and the one who does not cook washes dishes everything is shared.

I don't have a problem with my wife working even though she does stay home with our 2 kids (they are 3 and 5). If my wife could make more money than I do, then I suppose I would be the one staying home. The only thing that I don't like about 2 working parents is the potential for strangers to raise my children.

Depends on what is right/works for your situation. Certainly a second income helps in the finance department but may not be worth it if kids and daycare come into the picture. The costs may outweigh benefits. Plus there's the issue of latch-key kids or not having the attention they may need.

A stay-at-home spouse (notice I said spouse) helps in that one can focus on domestic issues (e.g. kids, the house, etc.) while the other can focus on career. Often times, when both spouses work, its a huge balancing act of family, work, etc. So I don't know that either gets all the attention it may need.

Housewife

I was raised in a very blue collar home by a very blue collar mother. My mother HAD to work. Not out of financial necessity, but out of personal satisfaction. She was (and still is) one of those gals that would just because she loved the feeling of doing something. She never could sit still or stay home, it would drive her nuts.

Growing up with a woman like that certainly shaped my view on what I'd want in a woman. Personally, I abhor the idea of having a housewife. I can flip burgers all day or manage multi-million dollar accounts. No matter how much money I might make my lady WILL work! I can't help but feel that a woman should hold her own. I owe that to my mother teaching me that the best way to get the things you want is to just get a job and buy them yourself.

If my wife would like to work, I would love that. If she would like to stay home, I would love that too. As long as she does take care of household duties while she is at home. She can't just be lazy and sleep all day, I do have a problem with that.

My parents work and they have a maid. Hey if she is going to work she might as well get someone to do the house work. And when my maid is on vacation my parents take care of the work together. My parents love to work together and if my mother didn't she wouldn't have to and we could still keep the maid. We're not rich and we could afford one. : ) And i believe that those lazy guys that want everything done for them should go live with their mothers.
