I never watch American Idol because I am not intrigued by people trying to become a star who bascially just sing the same songs that stars already exist, rather than making up their own songs.

But I've flipped through enough channels to see it a little and I think I remember here and there that Simon is jerk and is always insulting the contestants.

I don't think he is a jerk. I think he is just honest & perhaps a bit more blunt about it. I agree with him most of the time.

MSN has a list of what he has said, and the words he says are basically the same and fairly boring. It's probably his accent that makes the words seem more punishing than they are. To give you an example he has said the person sounds like a lounge singer. This is a supposed insult. Now go to youtube.com and listen to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Chances are you would be wondering if Simon really was insulting the person or Simon has never heard lounge singing. Maybe he doesn't know what it is. Even his supposed favorite song, Unchained Melody, is a lounge song. Maybe he forgot about the Rat Pack.

i dont think simon is a jerk at all. he's just trying to be the most honest as possible. it's his opinion and people can either take it or not. most of the time, simon is right about those awful singers from the auditions. honestly, are you going to tell all those dreadful singers that they are great when they're really not? contestants know exactly what they are signing up for when they audition for American Idol.. so please stop crying and whining about the "hurtful" comments that Simon makes.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/uirzN

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

He has a reputation on the show as a really frank person, so he is kind of a jerk.
He's probably much nicer outside of the show but I think to be a successful manager like he is, you need to be frank/a jerk

He is pretty harsh on people, but that's just the way he is, makes people be afraid of him, all I know about him is that he is one of the best clients of a famous strip club in London called String Fellows! check out the picture on the link bellow!

he's not really a jerk, he's just too honest. sometimes honesty can seem insulting, but he says it like it is. i agree with him most of the time, too. (i have to admit he went to far in the auditions, though)
