I'm currently using an integrated ati radeon xpress 200 and I was thinking of upgrading to a new graphics card, can I run a nvidia card on my pc (I have a compaq presario SR1800NX, 3.6ghz and 512mb ram, also I have a PCI x16 and PCI slot)

You can run any make or model of video card - ATI, Nvidia, etc- as long as it's PCI-Express or PCI. You won't find many PCI cards these days, and even if you did, they wouldn't be worth using with newer games.

more than likely... dont see why not... im using amd with nvidia and intel is basically same thing just different name but amd is supposed to be better?

YES, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DISABLE YOUR ON BOARD IN THE BIOS THOUGH. SOME ARE AUTOMATIC
