My partner works shifts and is knackered when he gets home. This lib dem group seeks him from time to time for meetings and to distrubute leaflets. He gets very stressed because he feels demands on him. Even so he is always trying to please them because he wants them as friends. They have their own family and never help him with anything if not for the party.

Would you do this just to keep friends?

No most of the time your friends have similar or the same motives and beliefs as you anyway that's why they get along -- but it isn't healthy to be forced into a lifestyle.

God never! No one should feel that they have to constantly be at someones beck and call just to keep them as friends. They are not friends, they are just people who are taking advantage of him and obviously have no interest in him when he is not helping them out.

No. In fact, it already happened to me. I am a Republican, yet my friends are Democrats. I told my friends that I plan on sticking to being a Republican because my ideology tends to lean to the right and they respect that as I respect their ideas. Even after I said that, we are still friends.

no, definately not. if these people don't want him for a friend (outside the party) then he really shouldn't be asking for their friendship. it sounds like they are only using him for their political cause.
