When Chuck Noll retired, everybody was asking that same question about a man named Bill Cowher. Mike Tomlin will be a great coach. I don't expect any less from the Rooney's. He's inheriting a great team with a great defense, which he is very educated in. Basically all he has to do is stick with the Steeler mentality, pound it up the middle and shut people down on defense. He is versed in the 4-3, which will be a good change of pace to confuse offenses from their normal 3-4. If they draft a good passrushing d-lineman or linebacker, they'll fit just perfect in the 4-3 scheme. I'm sure they'll make the playoffs with a healthy Big Ben.

Cowher made the Steelers tick.

Tomlin is coming to town and changing the defense from a 3-4 to a 4-3. If it ain't broke dont fix it.

Tomlin was a lousy coach in Minnesota. You hired the Defensive Coordinator from the worst passing defense in the NFL! Ignore the fact that they were #1 against the run. When teams know you cant stop the pass, why do they need to run against you?

What should be even more concerning is that Pass defense was his area of "Expertise" coming into Minnesota. He was the secondary coach for the Buccaneers. You think a secondary coach that got a job as a DC would not have the worst pass defense in the league.

To make matters worse, now he has moved up the chain again, and is a Head Coach? Lot's of luck, I dont see Pittsburgh going any better than 6-10 next season.

I think he was a great pick and will continue with the winning ways of the Steeler organization. I seem to recall a lot of "Who the hell is Bill Cowher?" back when he was hired.

This game is a young man's game to coach. It is evolving too quickly for the oldies Parcells, Schottenheimer, Gibbs, etc)
