No. A child is a human being, not an animal. It seems a bizarre idea to me to raise an animal to such a high level that you'd want to honor it by naming a child after it. I would be offended if my mom had told me she named me after a dog.
Now, just b/c a dog has a human name, doesn't mean you can't ever use that name. If you love the name Harold, but know a dog named Harold, that doesn't make the name off limits. It's the act of deliberately naming a child in honor of a dog that would weird me out.

well unless the dog is named something like blackie or spot where do you think dog names come from. Most of them are people names that you give to an animal. So of course you could name a kid the same name as a dog.

Depends on the name of the dog I think. I mean, there are a lot of pets now a days with human names. I named one of our dogs Sophia, and that's a name of a girl I know. There are also dog names like Daphne and Eddie and those are people names, so I guess it all depends on what the heck the dogs name is anyway. If it's something like Socks or Beast, then I'll double think that one.

It depends on what the dog's name was. If the dog's name was something like Fluffy or Princess, well then of course not. But if someone had a pet that they truly loved & cherished as a part of the family, and the pet had a decent name, then I don't see the problem in it. If the dog's name was like Sophie or Jake, then there's nothing wrong with naming a child Sophia or Jakob

No, it's not and when that child goes into school with a name like "Spot" or "Lucky" that is just asking for that poor child to be teased. You shouldn't put your child through the horror of having to be teased all through school or at all because of a having a DOG name. It's a human not a dog.

Heck yes. As long as it's not Fido or Spike or something. My fiance and I are considering naming our first boy Otis after the dog in "Milo and Otis". It's kind of cruel in a way, I guess, but we have a sense of humor, and kid's get made fun of regardless of what their name is. So go for it! It builds character.

It depends on the dogs name... if it was like Scott, or Jake, or basically a good human name, then sure. But don't name your child Fido...
