insurance companies screw us? The government says we have to have auto insurance and then lets the insurance companies screw us any way they can. I just got insurance through State Farm because they had the cheapest rates two weeks after I purchased the policy they sent me a new bill saying they took away my good driver discount because my dad had a claim 4 years ago. He didn't have an accident, they were at some animal park and an animal stuck it's head in the car and broke their windshield. Now because of that my rate went up even though my dad has nothing to do with my car or policy. I'm a good driver but I can't get the discount because of some stupid animal.

Because the insurance companies own the government.

The gov't isn't letting them. The Insurance company has to make money or they won't be in business for too long. If you do get in a wreck and it's your fault you'll be happy to pay that premium instead of having to buy a new car for the person you hit and also replace your own car. One of the reasons if not the main reasons is uninsured motorist who wreck and leave you're insurance company holding the bag.

Talk to State Farm. I've had them for many years and they do right by me.

It doesnt matter what the "accident" was, if there was a claim it counts. Sometimes its cheaper to just fix the minor accidents instead of claiming them in your insurance. I have state farm and get really good rates. But I have been with them for almost 11 years now.

Side note: My first vehicle was stolen only a year after I got it. I had no problems with state farm and getting coverage for that. I got reimbursed for the value of the vehicle, plus the value of all of the upgrades we put into it.

They have never tried to deny a claim and my insurance only went up temporarily after the theft.

It's pretty much like tardis and Phoenix said. It's all about the money, and alot of the money comes from people who either don't know their rights, or are afraid to assert themselves. The gov't doesn't do anything about it because they make bank from insurance co's, pharmaceutical co's and all the rest of the mega- dollar companies that are willing to pay handsomely for the right to screw the American public.

I'm sure they see some of the profit. By tthe way any excuse is good enough for insurance companies to raise your rates.

Because in the end, the rich people get the profit. They don't care about you or anyone that isn't rich. All the systems we know are corrupted by a love of money and power.

The government lets it happen because they profit in the end, along with their cronies.

I suggest you call them and ask why this other person's claim has any bearing on your insurance.

They do this because they expect you not to ask questions. If you push them back, they will fold eventually.
