Over 40,000 US Forces are always stationed in Japan. How can Japan start a war?
As someone above suggested, question on US-PRC war would be more meaningful and conceivable.

Japan's military is STRICTLY defensive, and they have a policy against possessing nuclear weapons, so YES the United States would win!

But that wouldn't happen, because the United States needs Japan as its ally in East Asia. Japan is a great asset to the US

A better question would be: If the USA went to war with China, would they win? China has a large military AND nuclear weapons, so it would be more even.

Right now, yes it would. Japan doesn't have an army. It hasn't had one since WWII.

of course the US would win. the japanese have a very tiny military and no nukes. it wouldn't be a fair fight. however, this would never happen.
