I recently stopped taking birth control.. my period is 2 months late, I've been taking pregnancy tests once a week and they are negative.. my doctor had me take one at the clinic and it was negative as well... I honestly don't think I'm pregnant because my doctor said the lack of period is probably because my body is regulating itself off of birth control.. anyway, today is my 21st birthday and I plan on going out tonight... but I'm worried that maybe there IS that SLIGHT chance that all the pregnancy tests I've taken are false negatives.... what would you do?

If you have taken more than 3 tests in the last two weeks you are not pregnant. Also, stop stressing about it or it will not happen - if you are trying. If you were pregnant a small amount of alcohol this early will be ok - don't get plastered, wasted or falling down drunk - a slight buzz will be ok. Believe me, lots of us were drinking before we knew we were expecting.
BTW: Happy Birthday

My friend just went threw the same thing... with all the negatives hun I wouldnt worry. Your doctor wouldnt tell you an absolute No without being sure. But if you still have an uneasy feeling just have a drink or 2 dont overdue it. Cause you may worry til you get a period after you drink and that will cause stress and make your period even more late. Birth Control does a number on your body but is a responsible thing when not wanting pregnancy. Just hang in there your period will come just try not to stress and dont have unprotected sex cause then you will really stress. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have a great one

If you have taken multiple pregnancy tests and your doctor also has performed a "negative" pregnancy test, I would say that you are absolutely safe to assume that you are NOT pregnant. The pregnancy tests today are 99.9% accurate, not to mention that if you were over 2-months pregnant, you would definitely be getting a "positive" reading.

Enjoy your 21st birthday, but don't over-do it! If you are pregnant a few drinks isn't going to hurt your baby. Enjoy yourself, have a few drinks but don't get completely drunk. Even if you're not pregnant, there's nothing worse than waking up with a hangover the day after your 21st birthday!

And, by the way...I know for a fact that when I got off birth control pills, I skipped a few periods. What your doctor is telling you is absolutely true!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday! First off, I would not worry, since all the tests have been negative. If you have been under a lot of stress recently that can contribute to your period not coming. Also, sometimes depending on how long you have been on birth control it can take a few months before your period returns on a normal basis. So I would go out and have a great time and don't stress, it will only delay your period.

i doubt that you are pregnant. your doctor is right, your body is adjusting the lack of birth control. its your birthday... HAPPY B-DAY!!! go out have some fun and get your mind off of this. if you plan on having sex, just wear a condom and you should be fine. if you are still concerned keep taking pregnancy tests. your period is sure to come, even if you miss a month im sure its normal. talk to your doctor if you are concerned.

I wouldn't drink until my period started. Your doctor is probably right... your body does have to regulate itself when you go off birth control, so you may skip a month or two. But is it really worth the risk? You have the rest of your life to drink alcohol. Eat cake instead. It's better for you anyway.

if by chance you are pregnant, the first trimester is when the fetus is the most fragile and susceptible to damage. i have an adopted son who has fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. it was not the least bit fun or easy raising him to adulthood. he has no conscience, and many learning, behavioral and social skills problems that he will never overcome. he is 21, your age now. but mentally and emotionally, he will always be at the 10-12 yr old level. some people might tell you they drank while pregnant and their kids are fine...NOT. they just haven't realized yet where the problems are, because sometimes they take years to show up and identify. they can be mild to severe cognitive learning difficulties, adhd, a.d.d., oppositional defiant disorder, bi-polar disorder, pervasive developmental disorder, autistic-type disorders, reactive attachment disorder, schizo-affective disorder, etc, etc, etc. when you find out for sure that you're not pregnant, you can party all you want. why take the chance of causing irreversible damage that is 100% preventable??

If you have taken SEVERAL tests and they were all negative, I would say celebrate, you only turn 21 once and if by some small chance you are pregnant. One night of drinking will not damage the fetus however if you do turn out pregnant stop drinking. Happy Birthday have fun!!!!!!!!

Take one more test and enjoy a couple drinks without going overboard. Having taken so many tests, I think it's safe to say you're not pregnant.

Happy birthday!
