She will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and be stressed about things that don't really matter. She stresses about little things past a reasonable amount. She will admit to it to. Her sister had to go see a psychologist over a similar problem. I was wondering if there is a term for this or if this is a symptom of something. I would also like to know if there is a simple treatment or if see should go see a professional councilor. I need confident answers. Thanks.

A friend of mine had this problem and tried meds which didn't really help. He found that doing 30 minutes of exercise several times a week helped a lot. It could be an anxiety disorder, but I would caution your friend to stay away from benzodiazapines like xanax or valium for more than just a temporary period of time because they are very addictive.

First, be cautious about going to see a physiologist, they listen then turn you on to a life dependence of prescription drugs...

Good friends and family support, pray, hold her hand, let her know she is not alone. Be there as much as possible. If treatment is absolutely necessary always have a family member or friend in the same room with her during treatment.
But again, no drugs!

I recently viewed a DVD titled "PSYCHIATRY AN INDUSTRY OF DEATH". One of my children was seeing one, but no longer...we work our problem out another way...church, prayer, family support...my child is doing fine now, just needed more one on one time, love and attention at home.

Hang in there...pray!

it sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder. There are all different degrees of this. However when someone does not have healthy coping skill's to deal with stress, they tend to fall into unhealthy ways of coping, some tend to focus on something and going over, and over it feeling like they can't let it go. You should encourage her to seek help for this. Good luck.
