How would you remove salt from ocean water?

if you want the water you can put a pan of water on the ground and place a plastic bag over it. The water will evaporate and condense on the bag. This is a simple distillation plant.

If you want the salt just fill a tray with seawater and let the water evaporate. keep adding water until you have enough salt.

If you wanted to make fresh water at low cost the best method is freezing. There are several ways fresh water is made at high cost but freezing is the only low cost method.
