hmmmm tough 1 but i;d suggest the Heros of the Lance Chronicles of Dragonlance by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
if you're looking for more of a Star War's like fantasy theme i'd suggest the Star of The Guardians Trillogy by the same authors mentioned as above
If you want more of a realistic post nuclear apocalypse horror spin on fantasy/sci fi i'd suggest the DeathLands series by James Axler
As a teenager I also liked the Vampire Files by PN Elrod but those are kinda hard to find these days but you can try to find em
that is all i can come up with off the top of my head

I just read this good book (kinda small and in the teen section though) about vampires. I think it was called Thirsty. If you're looking for a good series, try The Guardians of Time Trilogy by Marianne Curley. I also love Artemis Fowl, which is a kids book, but has great dynamic characters and is definately full of magic.

I really enjoy Terry Brooks. The first one you would want to read is The Sword of Shannara. If its a little too grim for you and you want something a little funnier, read his other series. The first book is Magic Kingdom for sale...Sold.
I also recommend Weis and Hickman. I like their Death Gate Cycle books best, but the Dragonlance books are okay.
Elaine Cunningham has written a few books that I really like. The first one is Elfshadow.
I also liked Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan.
Have you read the Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer?

I would recomend books by Mercedes Lackey. Her Valdemar series is a great pure fantasy setting. Her Urban Elves and Serrated Edge series are great modern fantasy setting (separate series set in the same 'world' with a little cross-over). She also has written or conributed futuristic sci-fi / fantasy novels. Everything I have read of hers has been very enjoyable and I am looking forward to reading the ones I have not gotten to yet.
I have yet to read them for myself but my wife and some of our friends are raving about the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. I have also heard good things about other David Weber books.
Some of my other favorites are covered by previous posters.

I highly recommend the Garrett series by Glen Cook. Get ready for the ride of your life reading them. They are funny, irreverent and totally different from probably everything you've ever read. The older ones are out of print. Check half.com for them. You can always tell a Garrett book because it has a name of a metal (gold, silver, lead etc) in the title. I was turned on to them years ago and they are incredible.
Also try Christopher Moore. He is more current. His new book You Suck is a hoot. C.

The Dune books by Brian Herbert are really good. I recommend the trilogy that begins with The Butlerian Jihad. The story takes place thousands of years befor the original Dune by Frank Herbert. It's great stuff.
Brian Herbert is Frank Herbert's son and I think his work is better.

If you like fantasy but are interested in something a little different you could try these urban fantasies (set primarily in our world with fantasy characters):
Tithe and Valiant by Holly Black
The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint
The Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine (Ill Wind is the first book)
another excellent fantasy (not urban fantasy):
Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
