Forgiveness is elusive. You think you have it one day, and your pain resurfaces. I consider myself high;y spiritual, but still haven't realized the key to complete, total and lasting forgiveness.

Yes. It would be much easier to forgive knowing that my after life would no longer be in question. But, then I would have to ask how real that forgiveness was knowing that I only did so when given an incentive. I suppose if I was faced with the person and I was able to give them a hug and have a lengthy conversation with them and all the animosity I once felt was gone, then yes I suppose I could say it was real.

Yes, but I don't think it would be that easy. It might take some soul-searching and really getting to the root of my problem with that person in order to let go and forgive. To automatically say "I forgive you" when given the chance to go to heaven seems a little too easy.

Unfortunately, we don't get the chance to forgive AFTER we die. God asks us the question you are asking every day of our life - heaven or hell? love or forgiveness? emnity or harmony?
When we are struggling to forgive someone it would help us to remember that we will not only help heal them, but also ourselves. Holding on to hateful grudges eats away at our insides.
Remember, too, that God forgives us of our horrible sins if we ask Him. Would we deny that to someone else? Would we accept His love and then deny it to another?

Of course. Forgiving is not hard to do. The only thing is trying to forget, it haunts us back, and pain in the heart aches deeply.
