Can more than one abortion weaken the uterus given you less of a chance to have a baby in the future?

Generally not

The procedure for an abortion (also known as a surgical termination of pregnancy or S.T.O.P) is that under a light general anaesthetic the OBGYN specialist will use a probe - previously a curette or spoon shaped scraping device - but these days a suction catheter - to remove the endometrial lining of the uterus (womb) and thus to remove the implanted pregnancy (products of conception).

If done gently, there is no actual damage to the uterus and thus there should be no problems with having further pregnancies.

There HAVE been incidences where uterine perforation has occurred. This is a known risk of abortions and in a standard medical setting is very very rare.

Other problems include uterine infections. This too is quite uncommon if the procedure is done in a hospital setting.

The biggest trouble occurs with illegal (backyard) abortions where non-sterile technique is used by operators who may not be adequately trained. Perforations and infections are MUCH more common in this setting, and follow up is poor. This can weaken the uterus and cause fertility problems subsequently.
