How long should "this feeling of attraction" last?

You like someone, you like them enough that you are willing to leave the relationship you are in right now just to go out with them. Now months have past and you two have never officially told each other that you are attracted to each other instead, they seem to have moved on completely and in some instances it seems as if they are avoiding you. Given this information should these feelings of attraction die out quickly or slowly.
