When I delivered my son and had no health insurance the hospital had a package for patients without insurance and it cost me about $2000. Call around to different hospitals in your are and they probably have something similar especially if they are in a low income area.

As the others have stated; if you don't have insurance, you will be charged roughly $10,000. Relax, you don't have to pay it all at once. Heck, you can pay $50/month once you discuss it with the Hospital. Just tell them you cannot pay anything more than $50/month. Most hospitals cannot send you to collections b/c you are paying your bill based on the agreed upon rate.
Also, You need to see if you qualify for your states Medicaid program. It is based on income. Otherwise, if I were you, I would apply for a Full Time job that would cover your delivery. Most Insurance will cover you as an employee even if you are pregnant when you get the job.

I am 8-9 weeks and was laid off last year. I have a new job but no insurance yet. I applied for MassHealth (State Care) and was approved thank God. They told me that a birth with no complications, and natural would run 18,000.00! And if I didnt have insurance then I could finance it with the hospital for like 100.00 a month. So if you have insurance you are very lucky, if not I would look into some kind of govt or state care. Goodluck!

I don't have maternity ins. either and we make too much to qualify for State assistance...so the doctor & hospital gave me this estimate....
Doctor $1500
Ultrasound: $100 each
Lab work/tests: apprx. $200
Normal delivery 24 hours: $1500 48 hours: $2600
C-section 48 hours: $3500 72 hours: $3800
Nursery: 24 hours: $850 48hrs: $1250 72hrs:$1650
Labor epidural: $264
C-section Anesthetic: $363
The amounts for the hospital is all-inclusive....there is no itemized billing for extras, like tylenol, food, diapers...it's all included. They said I had to pay the doctor and anestesiologist prior to delivery, but could make payments on the rest.
Hope this helps!

I have no insurance but the hospital has this thing where if you pay cash up front they cut the cost in half. For me it is $4,000. But that does not include pain meds, and extras. It just covers the basics for you and the baby for 48 hours. My midwife is separate she is $3000

I had a C-section and it ended up being about $27, 000. Don't do it w/o insurance! But if you are already pg it's too late to look for one. They will consider it a pre-existing condition and will not cover it.
