!GB. This computer is specked for 4 GB max Memory. Now i have 2 open memory slots, i want to add another 1GB memory, Can i add one 1GB memory module or will i need to add 2 512MB memory pair

u need to look in ur specs of computer or what it said when u ordered, whether or not the memory is dual channel, if it is, then u must match both sides, if not, then u can add the 1gb one

idk what that guy is talking about dual channel being better, its generally considered worse because of the restriction

You will have to add two 512MB. The same amount of memory is required in each slot.

you sohuld just take out the 2 512s and replace them with 4 1gb sticks

Dual channel is always better.. and more expensive.

1GB + 512MB x 2 is better than 1GB + 1GB.

Ask the geeks at best buy. Don't think you have to pay for that.
