It is OK because you really did the right thing. You were not misinformed. After the fact, the enemy told you otherwise. But even if you had killed because you where misinformed, you are not culpable given the function you served.
It will take a few decades for you to figure this out. If you go into the bottle or drugs you will never figure it out.
