All things about a humans emotions are there for a useful reason, find the usefulness and you have the key to change it.
Worrying is there to stop you a/ forgetting something, b/ making yourself look foolish, c/ stop you making a mistake.
If you satisfy your subconscious that you are not going to do any of the above - the worrying usually stops (about 80%)
One of the best methods for this have been developed from CBT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_behavioral_therapy)
Keep a pad of post its in your pocket
Every time you start to worry about something - jot it down
In the evening, take the post its and classify them
- Do - Dump - Defre
The Do's - not on the post it what you are doing about it.
The Dump's - why they are not worth worrying about (too big - too small)
The Defer - when it will be useful to start doing something and the possible action to take.
If there is a major problem the 'ladder' it - look at the worse possible out come - is it likely - yes or no
If yes - plan
If no - what is the next most likely out come ... and on
I have used this system so many times with so many sufferers and it works most the time.

I have a huge problem with worrying and i was told to think "What's the worst that could possibly happen REALISTICLY." It is easy to say "I am scared for school tomorrow because a giant meteor might come crashing through the building and kill me" (i have never thought this, it is just an out-there example) but it'd never happen right? Realisticly what might happen is you flunk a big test you have been stressing over...so? Retake it. Do extra credit to get your grade up. Study harder. When you think "what is the worst that could possibly happen?" it makes you realize NOTHING is too big to overcome...so why be scared? Hope this helps :]

Worrying is something that everyone does. Although, if you are worrying about problems or situations that don't exist, as in "what if", then you may have anxiety disorder. Talk to your doctor.
