you dont have to get undressed for an ultrasound.. and anything vaginal done is done in the Drs office.. Usually at 20 weeks you can find out the sex of the baby!! If your not comfortable with all those people there then tell them this is something you would rather do with your B/F.. my family wanted to be there for my ultrasound but i straight up told them, that they could just wait for a phone call because i didnt feel like an ultrasound was important enough to bring my family along ya know.. all you need is your B/F to share it with you!! but as far as undressing and getting into a gown for an ultrasound you dont have to expect that!

You'd better call the doctor's office and see how many people they'll allow in the room. Your 20 week ultrasound is exciting because you'll get to see the baby, and it will actually look like a baby! Your shirt will get pulled up to just under bra line, and your pants will be undone and pulled down a little. If having that much skin exposed to those people makes you uncomfortable, tell your boyfriend so. This is a special time for you and your boyfriend. Best of luck.

Nope, you don't have to get undressed or anything in the ultrasound room. Just your shirt gets pulled up.
If you are having a check up the same day, they may do that in the exam room. But just have your family come to the ultrasound! It is a very wonderful experience to see how much your baby has grown, and if all goes well, you can even find out what the sex of your baby is, if you'd like!
Good luck throughout your pregnancy and beyond!

since you are 20 weeks it will not be a vaginal u/s it will be external and if you wear pants that are cloth and have a drawstring they will probably just have you pull them down to your pubic bone and pull up your shirt then they will put a towel over your pants and do the ultrasound but if you don't feel comfortable with them there you can have them wait outside and then when you are all set and ready if you feel comfortable have your boyfriend get his family if they are even allowed in there you might want to call the place that will be performing the ultrasound before you get too stressed out about it and remember this pregnancy should be all about you staying comfy not anyone else so do whats best for you and your baby!!! good luck and congrats !!!!!!

Just like everyone else has said, you should only have to put your pants down a little and tuck your shirt up. Most places will tell you the sex of the baby at 20 weeks if you want to know and will give you some pictures to take home. I would take a video tape with you and ask them if they can ape the ultrasound. The place I went with my first child wasn't allowed to, but I was able to have all of my ultrasounds taped with my second. I had to have four ultrasounds, and I treasure that tape!

You're halfway there! Twenty weeks into your pregnancy, your baby has grown significantly from that first dividing cell and now weighs about 11 ounces (312 grams) and measures about 6.3 inches (16 cm) from crown to rump. The baby is taking up increasing room in your uterus, and continued growth will put pressure on your lungs, stomach, bladder, and kidneys.

Under the vernix caseosa (a protective, waxy coating), your baby's skin is thickening and developing layers. Hair and nail growth continue.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The amniotic fluid that has cushioned and supported your baby in the uterus now serves another purpose. The intestines have developed enough that small amounts of sugars can be absorbed from the fluid your baby swallows and will be passed through the digestive system to the large bowel. Almost all of your baby's nourishment, however, still comes from you through the placenta.

Until now your baby's liver and spleen have been responsible for the production of blood cells. (The fetal liver stops producing blood cells a few weeks before birth and the spleen stops by week 30.) But now the bone marrow spaces are developed enough to contribute to blood cell formation as well, and bone marrow will become the major site of blood cell production in the third trimester.

Well i believe you don't need to get undress or anything i agree with Marks Wi. I have my ultrasound appointment on Monday and me and my husband are so exited. Good luck and here is a link for you to look at the baby already at 20 weeks. God Bless.

You will be fine that ultra-sound is just a pull your shirt up. Its adoreable!!! I just had a baby on new years. I think your first problem is that your the one pregnant and if you only want your man to be there, then use pregnancy (mood swings) to your advantage. I did and it was so nice to just watch my son on the tv and the lady telling us about how long he is and saying here is his heart... umm.. oh it's really the time where it hits you YOUR PREGNANT!! i lnow you know but this is an amazing experience i cried my fiancee cried, it's a emotional beautiful thing to see. GOOD LUCK!!

Ok, don't stress about it .. its a wonderful experience!
at your 20 week .. you get to find out if it's a boy or a girl!!
they just have you lower your pants below your belly (right on the pelvic line) and then have you raise your shirt just below your boobs .. nothing is exposed!
They put a gel on your tummy and rub a doppler around in circles (on your lower tummy) and you get to see everything the baby is doing! it shows you the heartbeat .. how fast .. and they point out all the babys parts! ie. Legs, Arms, Head, Tummy .... genitals! etc.
20 weeks is a good size baby .. you'll get to see a lot! it's amazing! :)

good luck! God bless!

Nah they just had me lower my pants a little and lift up the shirt. I think they will be conscious of not showing anything if you have others around. Congrats on teh baby, it is amazing to watch them and see inside their little world! Ask for pics!
