South Africa may be the richest African Country, but I wouldn't say that the cost of living is the best. Food, clothes etc cost around about the same as those bought here is the UK. The difference is the salaries needed to pay for these simple things are not as much as a UK salary. So basically cost of living is high in SA, where most people live from pay check to pay cheque.

...ummm "cost of living" sounds scary in Africa... you see you'll most likely need an ammunition budget...I recommend the AK47 (world recognized)... so many of the nations are over run with "war-lords" who will want to extract a "peace price" from you... you know, put a little muscle on you for a few hundred a week to stay "safe".. so the "cost of living" (no pun intended) can get really high... bring some friends who can handle weapons too...if your bringing a car you might want to have it "up-armored"....

There are over 70 to choose from so the best way to find out would be a whistle stop tour in each one for the next 100 days or so!personal favourites Senegal / Gambia / Ghana
