I have been very sick with the stomach bug, throwing up and diarrhea. I got nervous and took a pregnancy test today to make sure all of that didn't do something to the baby. Now the line is lighter that it was before. I am 7.5 weeks pregnant with a past miscarriage and am so scared. Does the line ever get lighter without a miscarriage or is this a definate sign we've lost the baby again?

The lighter line probably has to do with your stomach problems - no reason to get worried.

Absolutely not, every test works slightly different and the lines will sometimes be dark and sometimes faded. This has no bearing on the health of your baby at all. You really need to go see the doctor if you are that worried, but I'll tell you I've known plenty of women who have been so sick they thought for sure they would hurt the baby, but the baby was just fine. Good luck, I'm sure the baby is A-OK.

Please don't worry I had the GI Virus when I was that far along too. Everything worked out well. Most people don't retake a test after an illness. So I'm at a loss there however I would talk to the doc and if you're that worried ask them to do a trans vag ultrasound so you can see the heart beat. I hope you have a very understanding doc. I had the best doctor. They did an ultra sound every visit and only charged us for two. They wanted to know at everyvisit that everything is alright. hang in there. Please don't stress over it . Stress isn't good for the baby.

Nicole,
Also be very aggressive with your Doctor about going on a progesterone therapy. Our Doctor said she did not like doing that until after the third Miscarriage, to which I informed her was two more than I could live through (we already had 1 miscarriage, as well). My DW went on progesterone (GOD BLESS HER!) as soon as we found out and we are now less than six months from another mouth to feed. I would not worry about the line color, but do stay on your doctor to be very progressive in treatment. Also, our Doctor informed us that the sicker you are, the stronger the pregnancy. Beats me as to why, but the throwing up may be a very possitive sign.
God bless you.

The line measures the concentration of HCG in your urine which can vary with a lot of things, including how much water you drank during the day and how long before you last went to the bathroom. So a lighter line doesn't really mean anything, just wait till your doctor's appointment.

The line will get lighter after being pregnant for awhile, dosnt mean miscarriage. Have you had bleeding and cramping, if not, than i wouldnt stress miscarriage just yet. go to the doctors asap just to be sure all is ok. gl

Did you use a different test? Do you have any other signs of miscarriage? As long as you are not having other signs, I wouldn't be too worried. Call your doctor though to be sure.

Well what you should do is see your doctor as soon as you can. I am not going to swear your having a miscarriage because you are 7 wks along.
I would really not be concerned if you are not bleeding now, if you start to spot and continue until you get a full period then I would say you are miscarrying. But without blood I would not worry to much, just get in and see your doctor.

Call your doctor and get a blood test ordered right away if you're concerned. It will be able to tell your hcg levels within a day's time, then you will know for sure. Good luck to you.
