By stable I am assuming you mean your right to express and live your view. The US even though it has many problems has a fair and balanced election so that the majority decides who will rule and economically we are hanging in there. I think China has a very interesting culture and will some day be a real decision maker on the world stage - the government is relaxing its control and the results are a more free market which is having a big economic boom for its people but as it stands now I think I would prefer to live here (United States) than any other nation for THOSE reasons...

The United States #1..Great Britain #2..and unfortunately I have to say France as #3..as for why..just look/see the freedoms we have in each country. Political and Economical are so debatable...but FREEDOM is what counts..

I think the most stable countries are the smaller countries, that don't have such huge highs and lows.
The Czech Republic and Slovakia are both very stable. You don't have huge swings of prosperity and recession.

Sweden and Norway...Denmark is pretty close to the top of economic and political stability if you ignore their recent riots concerning free housing for able bodied youth.
