Why do teachers give homework and say things are gonna help you in other grades even though they DON'T?!?!?!?!

Because it does help you in later grades, and later in life.
I use algebra and trig nearly every day. My house is being remodeled, so I have to figure out areas for paint, angles for moulding, volumes, etc. etc. also competitive unit pricing and averages.
Vocabulary builds on itself as well, as simpler words are often used in the definitions of more complex ones.
Without homework, students often do not learn as much nor as quickly.

I agree. SOME homework does help you for the future. But with the amount today, it doesn't help. It overwhelmes everyone and causes people to slack off. It does more bad than good.
Oh, and they give us busy work, which is work that basically has no point --- it's just there in order to torcher you. If they would give us actual work that was beneficial to learning and in small amounts, it would be better.

Homeworks help you to succeed in later times of your career. In future, when you move into professional life, homeworks help you to see things differently than you would do as a regular non-homework doing student.

They basically just want you to learn and actually try. They can't always help it though that they are giving you useless info as they also have set curriculums.
