I have an event where I want to put up posters on the poles. What's a good glue combination to get regular paper to stick well and last for a long time?

Try making some wheat glue if you can. (It'll last for a VERY long time)

3m's Scotch Brand makes a special double sided tape just for posters. You should be able to find it at most office supply stores.
