When you take a sudden drop different parts of your body move at different rates. What you are feeling is a slight bit of "zero gravity" - your internal organs are falling a slightly less than the speed of your muscles and bones - it takes a slight bit of time for them to catch up! It's the same thing people feel in space untill they adjust to it.

Enjoy!

Stomach Tickles

did you know that the concept behind rollercoasters gave birth to who built the space shuttle and how it was built. This is interesting because your question exhibits a great deal of insight. The reason your stomach tickles is because you are close to going as fast as the speed of light, and when you go faster then what is normal, a cop will pull you over and give you a ticket for speeding, this is why peoples stomach tickle when they go too fast, and if you get a ticket and don't sign it then you will be going very very fast in back of the police car in the cage, and the officer who is taking you to jail with his siren on, he will not get a ticket for going oh so fast.

Ikyoto is correct. It is because different parts of your body fall at different speeds.

Some people do not get this feeling though. It's strange, I used to get that feeling, even on small 70 foot coasters, but I haven't gotten it in over 4 years, and I've ridden the world's tallest roller coasters, including the world record holder, Kingda Ka, that drops from 456 feet straight down.

I guess it is from all of the adrenaline running through your body. I definitely had it when I rode the Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.

its the g forces or gravitational force against your body. Thats why the feeling goes on and off during the ride.
