Have a look at this link - this is where we're headed. Our future is to become extinct - we are going to evolve non-organic (artificial) life that can last indefinitely and will have unimaginable intellectual capability. Anything out there capable of travelling the vast inter-stella and inter-galactic distances will most likely be AI rather than some organism.

The motivations of such AI are beyond our comprehension as are the reasons why they would visit us, even knowing that we are here - what's the point?

Well - life may be closer than we think. Europa (a moon of Jupiter) has a liquid ocean (+32 deg F) and there is a tremendous energy source due to core stretching from gravitational eddies from Jupiter. Add this to 4 billion years of evolution and it is very possible that life may exist under the ice that covers the global ocean. I am not saying its intelligent - but there you go. And if you are under 50 years old, it is very possible that you will find out within your lifetime. pretty exciting, huh?

Check out the NASA website - Mission to Europa

You supposition has a lot of opinion in it; no one knows how likely or unlikely something like that truly is, until we know diffinitively if there's life out there or not.
