You have to define "good used harley". Are you talking everyday bike (some dings may be ok) or a show bike (cleaned and waxed every weekend).

For the first one, you could expect a bike with 10k+ miles every year. If it's the latter, you may see a bike that gets less than 1k miles per year to 5000.

What ever happens, look around the engine. Make sure it's clean. no oil deposits.

the size and weight of the bike and your driving type confirm the placed on and tear on the tire. I rode a Honda Valkyrie (1500CC) for 4 years and placed tires on it at approximately 6,000 - 7,000 miles. My spouse rode with me fairly in many circumstances and that i don't race around and smoke the tire or experience different than in a superb, uncomplicated vogue. i'd occassionally open it up slightly yet not too rapid. i'd in many circumstances cruise at approximately 75MPH and the bike felt good at that velocity. on your tips, in case you get a flat on a motorbike, the keep won't fix the tire. they'll purely replace it with new. So on your saftey and convenience, verify your tires in many circumstances, recognize your ecosystem and have an outstanding keep do your maintenance and tire assessment while you're actually unable to attain this. Be secure and enjoy!

Probably depends on what part of the country you buy it in. In the northern parts of the country people tend to put their bikes away in the winter.

I live in New England and I get about 6 good months of riding. I rarely use my bike to commute to work, and I average about 5K miles a year. If I lived in the south I'm sure it would be more like 10K miles a year.

If your not a mechanic absolutely do not buy a bike that has had engine modifications.

If you plan to have a dealer do the maintenance work, buy it from the dealer. Many of them will only do maintenance on bikes they sell.

when you figure that for a car, the current average is 12,000-15,000 using it all the time for a year, then use that as a comparison. If you live in Maine and have 2 months to ride it, then the average should be between 2,000 and 3,000. But, if you are living in southern Florida, and use it daily, then 12,000 - 15,000 would be the average.

Depends on the bike and the extras you have on it, my sportser is piped out and all chromed, and i get between 45 and 55 miles pergallon, depending on how i am riding. It is an 05 that i bought used with 600 miles on it, but that was amazing. Most bike owners, depending on your area and how many months you can ride there put roughly 1000 miles per 3 months of riding. but like i said, depends on the bike, the extras, and who had it.
