Would depend on the person. I appreciate and respect politeness but some people do go above and beyond at times.

I think when people are too polite that means they are trying to get you to do something for them.

YES! i hate it when people are too touchy feeling when trying to be "polite" like with hugs and stuff.

Yes, a person can be so polite they make you feel awkward. Or you start thinking they're being sarcastic when they're not.
