That is the reason I am divorced. And I did forgive him. It isn't about forgiveness all the time. We tend to confuse forgiveness and tolerance as the same thing. I forgave him because I didn't want it eating me up inside, but I cannot tolerate what he has done to destroy me, turn me against my kids, and destroy our wedding vows. So I think that when you say 'unforgivable' I hope you really mean 'unacceptable.'

I also wanted to throw in a little christian perspective. When we talk about not forgiving someone, we are saying that we do not accept the crucifixion and the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for each of us, because he took upon all of our sins so that we could be forgiven and return to the Father.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents.

I forgave him everything he did to me.

The problem I have, is forgiving what he did to our children... their lifelong emotional damage affects every aspect of their lives, because they adored him. His disappearance forever and knowing he can forget them all so easily and yet he works with other peoples children and is feted as a wonderful carer, while their lives and confidence are damaged by him, really hurts, as sadly, it's destroyed their ability, to trust.

I pray for him... I always will, but when my children suffer and I get the backlash of their pain, and see them on self destruct, knowing it is the agonising rejection he created that has caused it, then, it's hard not to wish I was a man like him and six foot tall like him, and be able to seriously take him task for a five minute session:-(

Ashamed Christian!

I was at the hospital with my father when he was dying and I phoned my ex-husband to check how my children were. He asked how my Dad was and when I told him that his blood pressure and heart rate were dropping he asked "How long are you going to be because I wanted to get home for an early night!" I'll never forgive him for that.

Leaving me at the palliative care ward in the hospital with a terminal illness diagnosis then selling our home and my car, giving away the family cat, and moving my two young children out of the area. So, yes.

Yeah i was seven months pregnant. and he was still in school and i could no longer go...and i found out that he gave his number to the girl and was hanging out with her at school. She never called him becasue he told her not to that he had a girl and a baby on the way, but still to this day i wonder if he did something with her. I cant let it go i just cant seem to forgive him. It still hurts to think about it.

my ex-partner promised me the world when we got together, i was in my late 30's with grown up children and he was in his mid 40's, i loved him dearly and agreed to have children with him as he had none, we never married and never lived together, (even though this had been promised) as soon as i had our 2 boys he did everything in his power to get away from us, this ended with him telling me that he had never wanted to be with me he just used me to have kids, and that he had never loved me but knew that i was a good mother, since leaving he has dragged me through court countless times to try and get parental wrights and responsibilities, so far he has been unsuccessful, but i have no doubt that he will win in the end, (he usually does) i find it nearly impossible to forgive him for using me like this but time is a great healer and hopefully i will be able to put this behind me at some point in the future.

similar to the others...I will never forgive my ex husband for how he has treated our children....you cannot forgive what you dont understand is my opinion. And i certainly dont understand how some men treat their kids.

I dont hold a grudge though, and i dont think you have to forgive to move on with life, its a case of just accepting that to you their behaviour was well out of your moral boundaries and realising you cannot change it.

100% YES, an older partner of mine put me out of our relationship in 1989, because i was unable to find work in Scotland. i moved to England and had another five year relationship before my current girlfriend. we moved back to Scotland in 97, and my son of the previous partner took to my current partner like a duck to water and she doted on him. he had his leg amputated through cancer and lived every day as his last. my ex still didn't like him visiting us, and we lost him a couple of years ago. we weren't consulted on his funeral and my side of the family weren't even mentioned at the service. that hurt me and the rest of my family including his other brothers and sisters. to capitalise, my ex erected a beautiful headstone, but it mentioned his mum, his brother and grandparents on her side, but nothing about us. we understand she was obviously hurting, but he was my son too. i refuse now to even visit his graveside as it hurts to much, and then they had the audacity to ask if i would donate cash to put up a memorial bench. i don't think so. i love my son and think of him every day. but the pain is so deep. and this is really the first time in four years I've talked to anyone about my feelings. thank-you
