is picking on someone else knowing that it hurts them a way of gaining power and feeling special and important? I mean, of course if you mess with someone, chances are they will get mad eventually....but how can this make someone feel powerful? We're all human beings, and if someone were treating you the same, way I'm sure you wouldn't like it either, so why not just find other ways to feel powerful instead of ruining someone's day?

Hon, you need a psychology degree because you already know what's going on. I could not have put it any better than you did. It's a control freak kind of thing meant to annoy the very life right out of you. Stay away from them or scare them seriously. See you at the Reunion!! @8-)

The only way to make them look like an idiot in the end is ignore them and not let it get under your skin. They only do it to make themselves look better. If you don't react then they feel stupid (of course they wont tell you that). I'm a natural redhead and I was made fun of ALOT growing up. After years of crying I stood up for myself one day and threw a snappy remark back (that was not mean by the way) and consequently those bully's looked really stupid.

Just remember that those powerful people have to be the "Alpha Dog" so to speak, and when everyone stops giving the desired reaction, they lack an audience and are alone talking to themselves. I guess some people witnessed hurtful messages being thrown around in their home and thus feel its OK. Some people think others should know they are just joking.....Although it never comes across that way to the receiver. It just all depends on how they were raised.

Usually somebody that picks on someone else was either picked on as a kid, or has a low self esteem. A normal person can't see how it would make a person feel superior but to a person who is picking on someone they are making the other person feel bad about themselves therefore making themselves feel above them. If you are getting picked on, just know htat the person hurting you is pathetic and feels really bad about themselves.

I agree with the other posts but also alot of times people are hurt and they want others to hurt as a kinda of relief. (sick i know) Its letting out all the anger inside of them and seeing someone else be as hurt as they were as a sort of revenge. These are the saddest(and weakest), and I pity them 'cause I know that's how alot of people are. (but your right 2) Actually I'd know: A guy who I thought was just a jack@** , as I got to know him he finally came out and told me basically that he was just alone and couldn't relate w/anyone. <3-sev

Some people are so miserable they need everyone around them to be the same. The sad part is they don't know how to be happy.
