it depends on your level of education and degree, if you specialize in a field, or in what type of facility you work in(hospital, private office, nursing home, etc.)

My friend is in the Nursing program at my college and she's expecting her first job to pay at least $45 an hour! That's more than I will make after my first job with a master's degree. Nurses are in demand right now! So if you're considering it and are good at Anatomy and Biology then go for it! But, if you are not naturally science prone then I say you should find a different career. Hapiness is more important than money. When I first returned to school I wanted to be a Nurse also but when I enrolled in my first Biology class I found that it was way too hard for me. I have switched my major to PR and I'm now at the top of my class with a 3.73!!!

All these people have good estimates. One thing that I could add would be that a lot of nursing positions don't offer benefits. Something to consider would be the Veterans Health Services www.va.gov. They are federal so they have good benefits, or try your state Veterans Affairs (through your state Office of Personnel Managment website). Or...the military (if you are so inclined). The military will train you for free. You can pick which branch. They will feed and clothe you. Not a bad life. I've known a lot of them that are in the medical field, and they do a lot better, in the civilian world, when they get out. Good luck!

Depends on where you live.

In Seattle, a staff nurse (RN) makes between $54,358 and $75,008 depending on the situation.

I'm sure it varies by education level and geographic location.
