I try to just get through the day and hope that a good night's sleep and rest will be me solutions the next day. Try not to worry....worrying can be your worst enemy. It's a beautiful day outside today...83 degrees in North Carolina...take a stroll in the park or a walk around the neighborhood. Sometimes a little exercise can clear your mind. Start thinking of positive ways to look at your situation.
For example: Let's say you lost your job....you have two choices...you can boohoo over it or you can look at it as an opportunity to do something that you like better or a chance to make more money...maybe you needed/wanted a change but didn't have the courage to make the change on your on....count it as a blessing....anything that puts a positive spin on it....you just have to believe it.

Great question. I'm not going to sell you the "this too shall pass" and "think of the good things" and "force yourself to overcome" BS because I know what you are going through. I too have just had loss after loss, rejection after rejection despite trying and making efforts. One step forward, two steps back. On top of it all I live alone and man things get abysmal at night. To top it all off I am about to lose my job in a week or two due to a merger. As if I needed that.
There is no simple answer, except do what you need to do for YOU. Screw everyone else, because in this world its every man for himself. Be selfish and do whatever you want to do. It's not time for appeasing others or worrying about others. It ain't easy, and finding motivation to do anything after losing and losing despite making the effort is elusive at best.

I would love to say retail therapy solves all problems, however once buyer's remorse sets in I feel bad again. New Hobbies usually do it for me, they get my mind off the hard times and give me something to look forward to doing. Plus in the end I am usually proud of myself for an achievement or meeting a goal. Its a positive boost in the right direction......Ice Cream helps also....just wish it had lasting effects!

I give my mother a call. No matter how down in the dumps im feeling, she always knows what to say to cheer me up. Also, a good Jim Carey movie may do the trick.

Write about it in my diary, I know it sounds kind of stupid, but I can just rant and rant, and, this is just me, but by the time I finish, I've managed to get sidetracked, and forget that I was angry or upset. Besides that, I end up rambling about stupid things, and eventually I come across something funny, and yeah, then I feel better.

I take my mind off things by doing housework. Then I bbq a nice big steak and have a few margaritas. Totally cheerful after that.

Just try to remember -- although cliche -- "this too shall pass" -- because it is the truth. Watch some funny stuff or a funny movie --- LAUGH -- find a way to laugh. If you have a friend who makes you laugh, CALL THEM. Laughter is the best medicine.........just always remember that this too shall pass -- it is so so true.

Sit down and eat a great big bowl of vanilla ice cream, with homemade maple syrup drizzled on top.

Music is a big help, and shopping lol. A little retail therapy helps (sounds shallow, I know).
Or I'll work on my fish tank, cleaning, rearranging, whatever

This may sound silly but I sing! I play my music and I sing along! I do not have a very good singing voice but it helps to bring up my mood.
