Sorry, male GP. I hope you don't mind me trying to answer your question.

Dividing coils into 2, first standard copper. Generally do increase your period bleed by about a day. A percentage of women get marked increase in bleeding and also menstrual cramps. In my experience this does not improve with time. so before fitting a copper coil I advise women that if this happens to them, they should not grin and bear it, but have the coil removed as it is not for them.

Second, progesterone coils. (Mirena). These also release a minute amount of progesterone. They are much better tolerated and tend to decrease, or even stop periods.

Why are these not used exclusively? Basically cost, they are about £100 each and since they are designed to last 5 years they generally tend to be fitted only in women who want prolonged contraception.

General additional side effects of coils include a modest increase in the incidence of pelvic infection, and the progesterone effects if Mirena is used.

this is alot of questions.. listed here are the solutions i found damaging aspects: heavier month-to-month circulate, extra menstrual cramps, There are worse damaging aspects right here they are only bear in concepts those are uncommon, the IUD ought to circulate from implantation spot, IUD can fall out, Tubal an infection, (ie, in case you have an STD that's pushed in on your tubes), and being pregnant if something shifts. An IUD can forestall being pregnant for as much as twelve years. some women persons even end menstrating at the same time as having the IUD in. I additionally discovered that maximum females persons return to favourite cycles interior of a month of having the IUD bumped off and would easily get pregnant without different issues. Your well being practitioner can purely answer whilst he/she might opt to verify it. Its as much as them and controlled additionally via your needs, desires, and if it have been to fall out ( happens in lots of cases once you pee) Hopes this facilitates!

I had one and it hurt going in and I cramped badly for about 36 hours. After that I did have heavier and longer periods and I also had break through bleeding. The GYN said this couldn't be, but my boyfriend felt the wire a couple of times and it shocked him. I do have a friend that delivered a baby with her IUD around her wrist. They are not 100%. This new Yaz sounds interesting. I don't know much about it though. I hope this helps.

I have the Mirena IUD..........and the worst thing I can say about it is that you have a lot of spotting when you first get it. After it settles in it is great. I love having it...........I no longer have heavy painful periods.
